Overview
What it takes to run an Unbind instance.
This part of the docs is for the person who owns the servers. If you only deploy apps on an instance someone else runs, you want Platform instead.
Running Unbind is meant to be boring. One command installs it, the UI updates it, and you add servers when you need more room.
The short version
- Get a Linux server and a domain. See Requirements.
- Run the installer. See Install.
- Add the DNS records it asks for. See DNS Setup.
- Open your domain and create your account.
Day to day
- More capacity: add a server.
- New version: update from the UI.
- Something is off: Troubleshooting.
What you are responsible for
Unbind takes care of deploying, routing, certificates, logs and metrics. It does not take care of the machine underneath. That part is yours:
- Operating system updates and reboots.
- A firewall that leaves ports 80 and 443 open.
- Backups. Turn on database backups to a bucket outside your servers. Volumes are not backed up for you.
- Disk space. Watch it under System Metrics.
